The Greene County girls golf team played at Indian Creek in Nevada on April 24 and placed third of four teams. The teams played nine holes.
Rachael Danielson had the low score for the Rams at 47. She was two strokes behind meet medalist Lauren Smith of Ballard. Smith carded a 45.
Other Ram scores were Ellie Madson 50, Serenity Blair 55, Mariah Block 61 and Kaitlyn McColley 63.
“I’m really pleased with our kids tonight. We played a new course and shot our second best round of the year,” said coach Heath Teleen. “We have some great things to achieve as a team this year.”
Humboldt won the meet with 196. Ballard had 212, Greene County shot 213, and Nevada shot 225.
The team played in the Southeast Valley Invitational April 20 and placed second. According to Telleen, the difficult course was more difficult because of wet conditions.
Danielson as runner-up medalist for the meet with a 43. Meet medalist was Delaney Conrad of Southeast Valley with a 41.
Danielson scored the 43 despite hitting her first two drives on Hole 1 out of bounds and ending up with a 9 on the hole. “It shows a great deal of maturity to stay calm and bounce back,” the coach said.
Other Ram sores were Madson and McColley 59, Blair 70, Block 80, and McColley 83.
Team scores were Southeast Valley 229, Greene County 231, Manson NW Webster 258, South Central Calhoun 261, and Ogden 282.
The boys golf team finished fourth of seven teams at the 18-hole Perry Invitational Saturday, April21. Elijah Block birdied (one under par) on the final three holes to finish with a 74, good for runner-up behind Gilbert golfer Tommy Doyle’s 71.
Jadon Block shot 84, Ben Wilkins shot 94, Curtis Muir shot 106 and Logan Brophy shot 120 and Travis Gierstorf shot 124. The top four scores went into the team score of 358.
Other team scores were Norwalk 331, ADM 334, Gilbert 338, Woodward-Granger 397, Perry 392, and Carlisle 435.
Elijah Block was meet medalist when the boys golf team played nine holes against Roland-Story and North Polk in Story City April 20. Block carded a 37, with one bogey and eight pars.
Other scores in the Ram varsity team score were a 44 from Jadon Block and 58s from Wilkins and Muir, for a team score of 197.
That placed the Rams behind Roland-Story’s 173 and North Polk’s 181.
